3/27/2010 - --Ft Worth--On Friday I got to the ANA a bit late hoping to see some new material that dealers may have bought from walk-ins or put out from behind their cases. Again the crowds were brisk as I saw many tables flush with customers. I don’t know if they were buying or looking. I once again walked the floor talking to most of the dealers. Many of the dealers said the retail business was the best they had encountered in many shows of the past. I did not find any new currency. I did notice a few open spaces in of some of the currency dealer’s cases, so maybe they made a few good sales. There was some nice $500 and $1,000 bills available but the asking prices were way far above Greensheet. They were asking over $2,000 for common VF notes. Wow! However the coin business was once again brisk for Brandon. A friend of mine did buy a BEP 2009 Platinum $100 in the BEP case for $2,200. I don’t know if it was a good deal or not, but it was for his kids. The weather was awesome which may account t for the number of customers attending. I checked with some of the local hotels and most of them were booked full. I must also tell you that there was another convention at the same time adjacent to the ANA. It was for some type of Special school teachers. There were thousands of female teachers everywhere. I’m sure it was a good night at the restaurants and clubs in Old Cowtown Friday night. Ft Worth has a very vibrant nightlife in Downtown. “Sundance Square” as it is known, is a part of downtown Ft Worth that features a taste of the old west at its best. It features museums, restaurants, shops and many Country and Western flavored clubs all decorated in the 1870’s to 1920’s motif. Longnecks were available at most establishments with country and western music being played on the streets as well as in most establishments. The streets are made of old red bricks that had been hand laid by hand many years ago in the style of the old west. Portions of the sidewalks which featured many shops of all kinds were also laid in the red brick format to match the streets. Trees were meticulously lined on both sides of the streets with the red brick blocks built around them as well. The police officers were mounted on horses and were patrolling the streets, mostly for show. You could also see an occasional Texas longhorn with a cowboy riding it working the crowds and wandering the streets. You had to be careful where you walked. It was a crossover of Beal Street of Memphis atmosphere mixed with a taste of the old Texas west. It looked to me as everyone was having a very good time dancing in the streets and partying everywhere. The after show crowds certainly were larger than the convention bourse floors. Maybe a lot of good deals were done after the show in a more festive atmosphere. So far from what I’ve seen and heard the show was a success for the retail sellers. A lot of the dealers reported that they were very unhappy that the ANA stopped selling Early Bird passes as they lost the opportunity to sell to that group of buyers, who in a lot of cases make up a good part of their anticipated sales. I’m not sure if I am going back for Saturday as I have Kids baseball games all day. But I suspect it will be a good selling day as it is going to be a beautiful day with sunshine predicted. Hopefully this is a sign of a recovering economy that will continue on through the summer months. We will know more as the Central States show is coming to Milwaukee on April the 28th. We will be attending the Milwaukee show and I will post blogs of that show as well. If I do go back to the Saturday show at the ANA I will once again give you an update. Stay Tuned! Jhon E Cash

3/27/2010 - --Ft Worth, TX-- Thursday--Well I tried to get into the ANA on Wednesday during dealer setup with an Early Bird pass but I was surprised to learn that the ANA is no longer selling Early Bird passes. I returned Thursday at noon and went inside. Keep in mind I am a currency dealer just getting back into coins. The traffic looked brisk as most all the tables were busy with customers. I walked the floor starting with row 100. The BEP had their display showing off the famous set of $100,000 notes with the $10,000 and $5,000 uncut sheets also on display. The old money press that was used from 1861 to the 1920s was a highlight as always giving intricate demonstrations on how money was printed in days gone by. I visited almost every booth looking for any currency. As always with the ANA, this was a coin show. Paper Money was almost nonexistent, and what was available were low-end notes stuck in the sides of cases. Trusted Traditions and the Kagins was the exception, but who can afford their museum material. Jess Lipka was there at the CGA booth displaying his PCGS material which included his $5K and $10K notes, looking for a retail fish. Tom Denly was there as well. His table always attracts a large crowd and he seemed to be doing real well. Im not surprised as he has a large variety of mid grade notes. The material I saw was pretty much the same stuff that was offered in the last 3 or 4 shows. Nothing new and exciting was present. There were a lot of gold and bullion resellers showing off their metals at .20 to .60 over spot. Brandon Kelley was there running all over the place from table to table buying new coins for the website. I was running around behind him like a little boy in awe, writing checks like crazy. He had a good show Thursday for the coin side. I came to the show prepared with cash and checks wanting real bad to buy some new material, anything. Nothing new but overpriced notes, most of it junk. When I left Thursday I still didnt see any currency that was worth buying. Maybe Ill have better luck Friday when I return. The coin side was doing great, but then again they had better material. There were dealers that did say the show was not good for them, but one look at their inventory in their cases explained why! Junk! Ill try again Friday and fill you in. Stay Tuned. Jhon E Cash

3/23/2010 - --Ft Worth, TX. ANA Show Report--I was born and raised in Ft Worth, Texas and I currently live about 32 miles from the Downtown Ft Worth Convention Center where the ANA show is being held. I will give an updated report on how the show is doing and what kind of activity is present. It should give us some kind of glimpse of what to expect this summer. I know that it is mostly coins at the show, but occasionally there is some good paper money deals to be had as well. I will be there Wednesday, Thursday and Friday walking the floor. Stay tuned. And yes I will continue putting 15-20 new small size FRN listing a day on the website. Jhon E Cash

3/19/2010 - --Finally, New stuff--I will start adding new notes on the website on Tuesday March 23rd. It is a very tedious and time consuming process to scan and then upload each note in such a way for them to work with the very popular zoomify feature. I will mostly be adding small size FRN star notes from my collection. I will start with the 1928 to 1934 $100 FRN stars & non-stars. Then I will proceed to the $50 dollar FRN and down from there. After that I will also be listing many various types of large size notes, including large size banknotes, errors, uncut sheets of large NBNs, and uncut sheets of small size NBN and a few others. There will be a lot of very rare and unusual type of notes that you do not see very often. If you signed up in New Accounts, you will be automatically notified of when these itens are entered on the website. It is one of the many features you get as a account Member. Membership has its advantages! Stay tuned! I am finding new notes daily as I go through some of my collection that I did not know I even had. They have been put away for years. I will list them as time allows. Slowly but surely they will appear. Also the census release dates have been posted. To view them click on the "Census Reports". Just be patient, as we are constantly adding a lot of new features to the website as clients like you have requested. It will be worth the wait. Jhon E Cash

3/15/2010 - Check out what just arrived! A matching set of 1934 $5,000 and $10,000 FRNs from the Dallas district, with the same serial numbers and same district! Unique set! Do a search on left under "Search by Cert.", enter 2221 to view both notes or go to small size FRN to the $5,000. More cool stuff to come. Stay tuned!

3/13/2010 - Dallas, Texas---Welcome to the NEW and enhanced Jhon E Cash Website! I think you are really going to enjoy this incredible and powerful website. We will be loading around 20-30 new notes a day and listing them online. So check back often. Many of the notes won’t last long as they have been in my private Jhon E Cash Collection for years. The ability to download some of the Census will be available in approx. two weeks.

We have uploaded mostly Large Size notes thus far. At this time there are very few small size notes on the website. I still have well over 300 small size notes to upload, most of them rare stars.

Currently we carry US currency and coins. In the near future we will be adding sports memorabilia to our site. Ive always had a fascination with old sports collectibles and you will enjoy some of the items we will offer for sale.

3/30/2010 - ANA Ft. Worth, TXThe Fort Worth, TX ANA was a pleasing show for me. I managed to find some nice seated type, some of which I sold at the show. There was a serious lack of exceptional material overall though. The regulars were all there and many seemed to lack that special material that I strive to hunt down. As always, there was average white material floating around in nearly every dealer case with the occasional attractive coin peppered in, though with less frequency than one would have expected 3 years ago.

Barber type is really slow and you can find some nice examples hiding out if you look hard enough. It is worth it to look though considering they are a good deal right now. Gold is still too dynamic to make much of anything as a dealer looking for PQ examples. However, if there ever was a good time to buy gold it would be now. Considering the new Healthcare law and the BEP printing out money like never before, it does not take a genius to figure out that our printed money will be worth less and less the more they print. Additionally, our national debt is growing by leaps and bounds. I would not want to see Americas credit report. Hold the gold and preserve your wealth.

One noticable flow of inventory I am taking notice of is that there seems to be less Early Commemoratives in dealer cases. I used to see them stacked 3 or 4 high in many cases. Now, you are lucky to find a dealer that has more than 30 in stock. In addition to the low quantities available, the quality is also disappointing. It seems that gone are the days of coming back from a show with 50+ acceptable coins. I asked one dealer that had the largest group at the show if he had any exceptional or nicely toned examples. He promptly showed me a Spanish Trail with musky deep russet toning all over it. Apparently, we have different definitions for nicely toned.

I ended up staying at Embassy Suites at Commerce and 6th just a 3 minute walk from the Convention Center. Our room rate was just over $200 for a 2 room suite sure beat staying at the Omni for $300. The area is full of tasty restaurants and the downtown area is VERY easy to access from any direction. The parking is kind of expensive but what downtown parking is cheap?

3/24/2010 - Ft. WorthI will be at the Ft. Worth show on Thursday (25th) and Friday (26th). I would have went out there on Wednesday with Jhon but I know how desperately folks are waiting for these Census reports to go up and I am working on that today. I already have the data in the database for the High Denom Stars and the FRBN Stars. Soon you will be able to purchase a subscription for the census reports. You will see a log-in for each census and once you pay for the subscription, you will have access them online or for download.

3/18/2010 - Dallas, TXWe launched the new www.jhonecash.com on March 15th and in just 2 days had over 1000 visitors. We have worked very hard to design a website that maximizes the enjoyment of shopping online for coins and currency. We put many hours into adding interesting reserach articles and streaming video that we hope you will enjoy and from which learn something. We are constantly tweaking and updating the site with new features so if there is anything you would like to see or if you have any comments to make about the site, use the suggestion box on the homepage. I have added 50 coins and will be adding many more in the coming weeks. Thanks for visiting.

3/7/2010 - BaltimoreWe picked up some very nice coins at the Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention just this past weekend. The nicest purchase being a J-1646 Goloid Dollar graded NGC PF65 RED CAMEO. This stunning beauty is a low R6 with just a touch over a dozen known to exist. It is listed on the site. Anyway, it felt good being back in the saddle buying real coins in Baltimore. I got to meet many of my old friends that I have not been able to see since I stopped doing shows about 2 years ago. It was a good trip and as always the crab cakes there are phenomenal. We have many more shows scheduled to go to this year. Look for us at the next show.

3/30/2010 - I am currently working on getting the FRBN Stars and High Denom Stars Census Reports available online. You will be able to log-in to view everything you recieved before and more from Jhons Currency Census Reports. You can expect these to be available first as I am just about done. I only need to code in the subscription, paypal, and login script for them to be available which you can expect by the end of next week. Jhon also still has to review the data to make sure it is up to date. That may also take a few days.

3/30/2010 - I just put on the few coins I picked up at the Ft. Worth ANA show. At one point I had a PR64CAM, PR63CAM, and a PR62CAM Proof Seated dollars. I ended up selling the PR64CAM at the show and came back with the 63CAM and 62CAM along with an attractive Barber Quarter in an old NGC fattie holder MS63. I did manage to buy some wonderful coins out of the Heritage sale which I am picking up Thursday so you can expect them listed on Friday. I will also be picking up some consignments so there will be alot of new material to view by the end of the week.

3/18/2010 - I just added the currency census release dates on the website. You can view the dates by clicking on the "Census Reports" button. You will be able to log-in and view the census reports online, print out a copy of them, or request the booklet. The coding never stops around here.

3/18/2010 - Boy, driving to Jhons house every day has been quite a drain on me. Dallas traffic around 5PM is way too slow for my taste. If you have not tried the want list feature, sign up for an account and upload your want list. Site users will be able to view it (without knowing who you are) and contact us if they have any of the coins/currency you have listed.

3/7/2010 - The topic of the day is Website Website Website. We are hustling to get this baby flying as soon as we get a couple more bugs worked out of the system. We are striving to make this website the to-go place on the net for quality coins, currency, and information regarding both. We have streaming video on our research section, a more robust admin panel, public anonymous want lists, high-rez zoomable currency images that load fast, and the ability to email you the moment a coin or note you are interested in becomes available on the website. Just set your preferences in your account to include all the categories you want to be the first to hear it when new purchases are listed in there. We hope you enjoy your experience while browsing the new www.jhonecash.com, and if there is any feature you would like to see implemented, do not hesitate to contact us. brandon@jhonecash.com
