This is one of the nicest mid-grade no problem 1922 $100 Gold Certificates I have ever owned. The serial number is N58206 and it is in a Very Fine PMG-35EPQ holder. What make this note so special is the burnt-orange color on the back and the PPQ designator. The lipstick red seal is extremely bright and the color on the reverse is unusually original. This is one of those notes that was put away in a book many years ago as there is hardly any signs of circulation. It has retained its original embossing. So often they are faded and washed out. The paper quality is well preserved. This lightly circulated Gold Certificate has been put away somewhere safe for many years. There is no signs of soiling as you see with so many of these old Gold Certificates. The burnt-orange color fades quickly and badly when it is washed or exposed to long time sunlight. That is why you need to get a note with the "PPQ or EPQ" notation. That means it all original, never messed with as so many of the gold certificates are today. You will not find but a handful of any large size gold certificates with the PPQ designator on them. Origionality is very tough to come by on gold certificates, because of the color.

This example would make a great acquisition form anyone putting together a nice collection of large size gold certificates.

You can see the originality of the paper on the reverse. That is good as it gets and that means it has never been pressed or cleaned. There are no rips, tears, pinholes or bank marks. Just a very nice well preserved old gold note.
