This is a rare and beautiful original 1934 $10,000 bill that hails from the Famous second Binion Hoard of 100 $10,000 bills that was displayed from 1966 to 1999 at the entrance of the Binion Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 100 $10,000 bills on display were from the New York district only and were displayed in the famous Inverted Horseshoe located at the entrance of the Binion Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada. This famous display was Las Vegas’ most celebrated attraction for many years attracting over 3 million visitors annually. People from all over the world came to have their picture taken in front of the display. Charles Manson was one of the ones who had his picture taken with the display.

All 100 of the $10,000 bills from the Inverted Horseshoe were sold off by the daughter of the late Benny Binion in December of 1999 to pay for the pension fund of the hotel and casino workers. In January of 2000 they were carefully removed from the Inverted Horseshoe display and sold off to investors and collectors. The inverted Horseshoe display had 5 horizontal rows, A, B, C, D, and E. and underneath each row were 20 notes each. I have the location of each of the 100 Binion $10,000 bills.

This Binion $10,000 bill was one of the ones on the Inverted Horseshoe Display. The serial number of this Binion $10,000 bill is B00002272A and is in a PCGS-64 holder. This location on the Inverted Horseshoe of this $10,000 bill was ____.

I am currently putting the finishing touch on a lengthy detailed book called "The complete History and Census of the United States $5,000 and $10,000 bills”, with complete details and photo’s. There is a special section in the book that covers in detail the history of Benny Binion and the 100 $10,000 notes. There is also a section that covers the famous Inverted Horseshoe display of the one hundred (100) $10,000 New York notes that were on public display near the entrance of the Binion Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas from 1954 to 1999. I’ve spent the last 12 years doing detailed research on the history of each and every $10,000 note that was in the display. I am familiar with the placement of every one of them as well as the grades and history of most of them. The Inverted Horseshoe display is part of Americana history and folk lore. The $10,000 bill was America’s highest denomination ever released to the public.

The story of the $100,000 bill: The $100,000 bill was printed and issued by the Treasury Department but was only issued for Fed bank to Fed bank transactions among the 12 Federal Reserve Banks only. They were never released to the public for circulation. Rumors have been around for years that there are several $100,000 bills floating around from the Philippines that were saved and buried in an old tin can during WWII. These fakes occasionally they are offered for sale by shady characters. I have been contacted by this group several times they do have a good BS line and story to tell. I have several scans of them. That story is not true as all of them have been accounted for by the Treasury Department. Even if you did own one it would be totally worthless and illegal as they were never released to the public. Don’t get scammed.

A small excerpt on Benny Binion from my soon to be released book:

The Binion Inverted Horseshoe display was the brainchild of Joe W Brown in 1954. He ran Binion’s Hotel and Casino while Benny Binion was away in prison in Leavenworth from 1954 to 1957 for tax evasion Joe had purchased 100 consecutive $10,000 bills for his $1 million dollar display. The million dollar display was Las Vegas’ most celebrated attraction for many years. This is why you will see old postcards of the Inverted Horseshoe with Joe W Brown’s name on top of it. People from all over the world came to have their picture taken in front of the $1 million display. Amongst the celebrities was Charles Manson who had his picture taken with the display. In 1957 Benny Binion was released from prison and resumed control of his casino and subsequently sold off the original 100 $10,000 bills. By popular demand Benny Binion repurchased 100 $10,000 bills in 1963. All of the new $10,000 was from the New York district (B). They were not 100 consecutive serial numbered notes as the first Joe W Brown display was. The second batch of $10,000 bills was on display at the entrance of the Benny Binion Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada until December 1999 when they were sold off by Benny Binion's daughter Becky to pay for employee pension funds for the casino.

The story of Benny giving an empty box supposedly containing the 100 $10,000 bills for the Wells Fargo carrier to take to the bank and then secretly putting all 100 of them in his boot and meeting the courier and banker at the bank cash in was true. He trusted no one. That was how he was raised at an early age when he was a notorious gangster in Dallas in the 1920’s and 30’s. That was the Benny way, and it served him well his whole life!

Of the 100 Binion $10,000 bills graded, 28 of them have known problems such as repairs or minor restorations. According to PCGS currency census, there are 17 of them that are graded as a Choice New 64 and only 9 of them are in a Gem Grade of 65. There are none above the 65 grade. One of my clients has 5 of the Gem 65’s and I know where the other 4 are. They are all in long term collections. The Binion’s in 64 grades and below are the only ones available for collectors. Binion $10,000 bills rarely come available for sale and when they do, they disappear quickly, as a lot of collectors actually had their photos taken in front of the Inverted Display.

This is your chance to own one of Americas most cherished currency possessions! Only 100 people in the world can lay claim they currently own an original Binion $10,000 bill.

Each and every $5,000 and $10,000 bills come in a custom made cherry wood box with a “Certificate of Authenticity” that includes the front and back photos of the note on the COA. It is great for insurance purposes.
