Of all of the 1928 $1,000 Gold Certificates I have owned this is the second finest I have ever owned. Of course the other one I had in the Jhon E Cash Collection was the finest known in a PCGS-66PPQ.

This Fr-2408 1928 $1,000 gold certificate has been off the market since March of 1980. I acquired this note from the collector in November of 2012. If you will please look carefully at the large scans you will notice the nice wide even margins which is uncommon on the gold certificates. On most of these gold certificates the bottom margins will be cut off, almost into the designs or they will be crooked from left to right. The front and reverse of this note faces up like a UNC note and the centering is dead on, both front and back. The burnt orange gold seal and serial numbers are bright and fresh as the day it was printed. It does not get much nicer than this. There are absolutely no rips, tears pinholes or marks of any kind. The serial number is A00008168A and it resides in a PCGS-45 holder.

This is the type of high end Gold Certificates that collectors dream of and wait patiently for one to appear. Recently in a Heritage auction a 1928 $1,000 gold certificate with almost no bottom Margins in a 40 holder sold for $19,275. I was at the auction and I passed on that one because the margins were cut short at the bottom. The dealer who bought it sold it to a collector for $23,500. This example is definitely much nicer than the last example and it is priced to sell.

The February issue of the Greensheet listed this note for $22,000 in an EF-40. You now have the opportunity to get a very nice margined PCGS-45 at the same price. When was the last time you were able to buy a nice high end note at anywhere Greensheet prices?

If you need additional information or photos you can contact me at 214-769-9936. I reserve the right to end this sale as I have this note advertised in other publications.
